How does Play Therapy work?

Play Therapy helps children understand confused feelings and upsetting events that they have not understood or had the chance to resolve properly. Children are able to use play, rather than words to understand their difficulties.   They may re-enact or play out traumatic or difficult life experiences in order to make sense of their past and cope better with their future.

Testimonials

Katie brings a calm and nurturing approach to her sessions, creating a safe space for pupils to learn how to look after an animal, as well as; explore their feelings, develop emotional literacy, and build self-regulation strategies. Angel, as a trained therapy dog, is grounding for children, often enabling them to engage more openly and meaningfully.

We are grateful for the kindness and commitment that Katie and Angel have shown our school community. Their work within our school has enhanced our provision for social, emotional, and mental health support, and strengthens our whole-school approach to supporting children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
